Home Who we are News 4 August 2017 At the hospital Grant Rounds open 7 August 2017 Through the generosity of our supporters, the Children’s Hospital Foundation funds research that has a strong focus on translational outcomes, improves children’s health and leads to faster diagnoses, better treatments and ultimately cures for some of the most devastating childhood illnesses and injuries. With a focus on funding Queensland-based research, the Children’s Hospital Foundation funds research that supports Children’s Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service’s research strategy and themes. The Children’s Hospital Foundation is proud to announce that the following Grant Rounds will open on 7 August 2017 and close at 5pm on 6 September 2017: 2018 Children’s Hospital Foundation Preclinical and Clinical Research Grant Round In this funding round, the Children’s Hospital Foundation has approximately $2 million available for allocation to recipients for preclinical and clinical research. This amount is not available per applicant but for the entire applicant pool. Offers include: People-Support Grants – available primarily for the recipient’s salary and assessment is based on the proposed project to be conducted by the applicant. PhD scholarships and various Fellowship grants of between $30,000 – $180,000 per annum (for up to three years) are available. Research Project Grants – available to researchers for project-related expenses and range between $70,000 – $150,000 per annum (for up to two years, depending on the category). 2018 Children’s Hospital Foundation Travel Grant Round One-off grants of up to $7,500 are available to researchers (PhD students and postdoctoral researchers <7 years) for costs related to conference travel, accommodation, registration and meals. Woolworths Centre for Childhood Nutrition Research – Call for Applications The Children’s Hospital Foundation in association with Woolworths are proudly offering $250,000 per annum for five years to establish the Woolworths Centre for Childhood Nutrition Research which is to be led by a Professor (Academic Level E) with suitable qualifications, experience and expertise in one or more nutrition-related disciplines. To deliver a comprehensive nutrition research program, the Children’s Hospital Foundation will make available a further $750,000 per annum for five years to support the research activities conducted as part of the Woolworths Centre for Childhood Nutrition Research. Although the current grant round seeks only to appoint the Professor of Nutrition, the Research Advisory Committee will consider awarding all or part of the $750,000 for one or more years to the successful Professor of Nutrition should their application be deemed scientifically valid and feasible.
