Home 31 May 2016 At the hospital VOLUNTEER WEEK: The best job in the world Bev began volunteering for the Children’s Hospital Foundation eight years ago. With a background in nursing and ambulance services, she felt like she could make a real difference to the lives of sick kids and their families at our children’s hospital. Bev has a very special voluntary role at the hospital, as a Steggles Cuddle Carer. This program gives parents the opportunity to take a break from their baby’s bedside, consult with medical staff, make phone calls, or just catch up on some sleep. Our Steggles Cuddle Carer volunteers are there to give comfort to babies with a warm cuddle, making a real difference to parents and nursing staff. “As a cuddle carer, I just love the fact that we can give cuddles to the little ones in need. It is a privilege to share their journey,” Bev said. Each day, our Cuddle Carers receive feedback from families as well as hospital staff about the great work they do to help assist an unsettled baby. Last year, our Steggles Cuddle Carers gave out over 2,300 warm and loving cuddles to our sick kids. chevron_leftPrevious article Share Next articlechevron_right Latest News & Events Grants offer career boost to Queensland women, to help make their mark in child health research March 8, 2021 Read more 2021 Regional Working Wonders Scheme March 8, 2021 Read more 2021 Working Wonders Grant Round February 16, 2021 Read more Subscribe for the latest news There is always something interesting happening in our world.
