Home Who we are News 30 October 2020 Featured News Thank you to BIG W Queensland and Northern NSW team and customers for $5 million milestone On behalf of sick kids and their families across the state, the Children’s Hospital Foundation is saying thank you to BIG W teams and their customers across Queensland and Northern NSW for raising more than $5 million to invest in ground-breaking respiratory research and support services at Queensland Children’s Hospital. This incredible generosity has helped improve the lives of countless children through investing funds into respiratory illnesses, as well as support services for kids in hospital. Funds have helped to lay the foundation for Queensland’s first dedicated cystic fibrosis research program, which aims to improve outcomes for children living with the life-limiting condition by building a better quality of life and longer life expectancy. There is still no cure for cystic fibrosis, but with funding boosts, research could yield life-changing outcomes for patients not only in Australia but internationally, for years to come. BIG W Queensland and Northern NSW has also been a fantastic support through the donation of toys and games, Mother’s Day gifts, emergency toiletries, and more. This in-kind support has made a huge difference to kids in hospital, especially during the increased isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year. Children’s Hospital Foundation CEO, Rosie Simpson, could not be more grateful for the community who have come together in support of some of the state’s sickest kids. “Through wall token campaigns, raffles, customer giving, Telethon parties, and payroll giving, BIG W’s unwavering enthusiasm over the past 17 years has been phenomenal,” Ms Simpson said. “It’s a huge testament to not only the BIG W Queensland and Northern NSW team but their incredibly generous customers that their continued commitment has been able to achieve such great things so far, and we look forward to working together on this amazing partnership into the future.” BIG W State Manager for Northern Region, Tanya Atkinson said “BIG W has enjoyed a long-standing partnership with the Children’s Hospital Foundation and this marks an incredible milestone of our journey together. With the generous help of the BIG W communities here in Queensland & Northern NSW, we proudly continue to support the Foundation in its research programs that positively impact the lives of our youngest community members.” chevron_leftPrevious article Share Next articlechevron_right Home page 2021 Regional Working Wonders Scheme February 22, 2021 Read more 2021 Working Wonders Grant Round February 16, 2021 Read more Young researcher aims to lessen impact of transition to adult care February 11, 2021 Read more Subscribe for the latest news There is always something interesting happening in our world.
