Woolworths raffle winner collects her brand-new Hyundai

One lucky Lismore resident has been left speechless after taking home the first prize of the Children’s Hospital Foundation’s annual raffle in conjunction with Woolworths, valued at more than $41,000.

Margaret Jackson walked away from the raffle with a brand-new Hyundai Tucson Active 2.0, including GST, stamp duty, 12-month registration and dealer delivery. She also won a $500 Woolworths gift card.

Drawn in May, Mrs Jackson was one of eight winners sharing in more than $169,000 worth of prizes including four brand-new Hyundai’s (Tucson Active Auto, i30 Sedan Active Auto, Kona and a Venue), two $10,000 Flight Centre Holiday packages, and two $10,000 Woolworths gift card packs to purchase groceries for a year.

Mrs Jackson said she truly couldn’t believe she won, and that the prize was a welcome surprise from what she considered a simple way of giving back.

“I am so grateful to Woolworths for supporting the Children’s Hospital Foundation with this raffle, and I truly cannot believe that I won,” she said.

“I’ve never won anything in all the years I have been buying raffle tickets, and I couldn’t be more thankful.”

She has even framed her winning ticket, which she purchased during a regular shop at Woolworths Lismore Central.

Children’s Hospital Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Rosie Simpson, said funds raised through the raffle will ensure Queensland’s sickest kids receive the very best possible care, allowing them to get better and go home sooner.

“The proceeds from the raffle will help us to support the care provided to sick and injured kids and their families, regardless of where they live throughout Queensland and Northern NSW,” Ms Simpson said.

“The support we receive from Woolworths’ customers and team is invaluable and helps us to provide much-needed entertainment and support for kids in hospital, to fund vital new medical equipment, as well as support research into childhood nutrition through the Woolworths Centre for Childhood Nutritional Research.

“Through the generosity of Woolworths customers, more than $60 million has been raised for this great cause over the past 34 years.”

This year, the Children’s Hospital Foundation raised almost $400,000 through this raffle in Woolworths supermarkets.
