Giraffe Omnibed Incubator

Babies born prematurely must be kept inside an incubator or radiant warmer – a walled, hygienic bed designed to insulate their tiny body. This warmth saves their lives by allowing them to conserve precious energy as they heal. When inside a warmer, babies must still undergo treatments, check-ups, nappy changes, and be fed, which result in them being handled or removed from the warmer causing distress and discomfort for both baby and parent.

Funded by the Children’s Hospital Foundation, the Giraffe Omnibed allows parents to touch and change their baby, and staff to administer treatments and check-ups, without the consequences of unnecessary handling.
