Critical Equipment

Providing life-saving equipment for critical care

With your help, the Children’s Hospital Foundation invests in state-of-the-art medical equipment that changes the lives of thousands of sick and injured kids and their families.

3D Surgical Navigation Technology

3D surgical navigation equipment enables surgical teams to merge images from three scans to provide a 3D image of a tumour, allowing for better planning and execution of an operation.

Apheresis Equipment

Children with chronic illnesses can receive plasma exchange treatment using an apheresis machine.

BiPAP

Children with certain types of respiratory illnesses require constant breathing support to prevent serious complications such as impaired brain function, developmental issues and asphyxiation.

Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation

Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation – or ECMO – is a life-support machine that takes over the function of the heart and lungs while the body is fighting an illness or injury.

Giraffe Omnibed Incubator

Babies born prematurely must be kept inside an incubator or radiant warmer – a walled, hygienic bed designed to insulate their tiny body.

Lumenis Ultra Pulse Laser

Lumenis Ultra Pulse laser treatment has the potential to reduce the appearance of burns scars, improve function in the affected areas and reduce the number of surgical interventions required.

MRI Head and Neck Coil

The MRI head and neck coil enables higher resolution images to be obtained of a child’s brain and neck.

Portable Suction Units

The LSU is a portable, powerful and highly reliable suction unit designed for optimal preparation in emergency situations.

Trilogy Ventilator

The Trilogy ventilator provides continuous respiratory support up to 24 hours a day.
